Be still my MCM-loving heart. I’ve long been eyeing this awesome place on Facebook…stalking their pictures and dreaming of where I would put all the pretties in my house. They were closed to the public for most of the winter, but I showed up on their first Saturday of the season to scope out all of the deliciousness myself.
Yes, I just described furniture as delicious. To me…it is.
Main St. Modern is off the beaten path. Like, waaay off. Tracey from ReDesign on a Dime and I ventured out to Canton that morning, diligently following our GPS. Which dropped us off in the middle of what appeared to be a deserted warehouse district. Confused, we started heading back towards the main road, only to notice a few cars parked in front of a building. There were no signs, no arrows, no anything that would tell us we had arrived. It was kind of like we were part of a secret MCM society that you had to be “in the know” to know about. We felt cool.
Let me remind you, this is a warehouse FULL of anything and everything related to my beloved Mid Century Modern style. Right here in Northeast Ohio. I was on an understandable high.
Yea….this is awesome.
Everywhere we looked, there was furniture. And lamps. And decor. My mind was ready to implode.
I was really interested in a pile of lampshades. I have some awesome MCM lamp bases in my living room that have boring Target lampshades on them. It works, but it isn’t authentic.
I dug until I found three of the quintessential MCM fiberglass lampshades (you know the ones)….two that matched and one that was too good a deal to pass up. I LOVE them!
Seriously though, this place was incredible. And Adam, the owner, was such a great guy. He chatted with me a little bit as I geeked out on all the pretties and showed him photos of my own treasures on my phone. I was a fan girl for a bit there.
If you love Mid Century Modern as much as I do (or even if only a fraction as much as I do) you’re going to want to check this place out. He’s open every Saturday from 10-3. Address is 618 Mulberry Rd SE in Canton. Like I said, there aren’t any signs alerting that you’ve arrived. It’s a secret society thing….you’ll have to learn the handshake on your own.
